Cornstarch Paste

1/4 ts Alum
1 tb Flour
2 tb Cornstarch
3 oz Water

Mix the alum, flour, and cornstarch together. Slowly add the water, stirring to remove the lumps. Cook in a double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly. When paste begins to thicken, remove it from heat. The mixture will continue to thicken as it cooks. If necessary, thin with water. Store in airtight jars.
